Charles Finnis died from wounds on 6th October, after having been sent to a base hospital at Abbeville, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 8th East Surrrey battalion was part of 55 Brigade, 18th Division, and had been involved in the Battle of the Somme in the summer and autumn of 1916. |
